THE COATICOOK CAISSE POPULAIRE
The Caisse Populaire was founded in 1933 and the first manager was P.E. Durocher, a Coaticook notary. Mr. Durocher, manager, gave a heated and lighted office, secretaries, etc., to the newly quartered Caisse and furnished this office for free for a number of years. Simone and Suzanne, his two daughters succeeded him as managers until 1955.
The first employees were Miss Gilberte Blouin, Liliane Blouin, Yvonne Blouin, Denise Otis, Lisette Lahaie and Mrs. Cecile Roy.
The first Administrative Council was composed of the following men: Georges Jubinville, Denis Gerin, P.E. Durocher, Hospice Dumont, Albert Riendeau and Paul Gerin.
P.E. Durocher, notary, was the first manager of the Caisse on October 1, 1933 and occupied this position until 1945; Miss Simone Durocher, 1945-1949; Miss Suzanne Durocher, 1949-1955; Antonio Daigle, 1955-1962; Fernand Riendeau, 1962 until the present day.
The current manager arrived in 1962 and the bank's assets were $l,500,000 and on January 31, 1975 the assets were $10,000,000.
In 1962, the membership consisted of 2, 994 persons. In 1976, membership had risen to 6,775 persons.
